Another image-quality tool featured in Canon EOS Rebel XS digital SLR camera is the Picture Style Settings. This tool will allow you to change the look of your images. It offers the advantage similar to that of 35mm film cameras, when color films are switched from one type to another. It has six preset Picture Style settings, which are Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Neutral, Faithful and Monochrome.
Standard is the default setting in the Picture Style Settings as it is useable in a wide variety of conditions. Standard is used to produce vivid, sharp images and is ideal for direct printing without post-processing. For images with warmer skin tones, you can use the Portrait setting. Landscape setting is ideal if you want extremely bright, sharpened and saturated images.
The ideal starting point for image-editing in the computer is the Neutral setting, which is used for low sharpening, contrast and saturation. Faithful is the setting for accurate reproduction of the subjects colors that is based on colorimetric data. For black and white images, use the Monochrome. It features adjustable contrast, sharpening, color toning and effects of traditional color filters.
Canon EOS Rebel XS digital SLR camera features an Integrated Cleaning System that employs both mechanical and digital technology. It has a Self Cleaning Sensor Unit that uses ultrasonic vibration to remove dust that settles on the sensor. The self cleaning sensor shakes off dust automatically whenever the camera is powered on or off. But you can also activate it manually.
Another part of the Integrated Cleaning System is the Dust Delete Data Detection. Dust may still remain in the sensor and can be seen on the images. This is why Canon developed a software that will enable you to digitally erase captured dust. The software is included in the Digital Photo Professional Version 3.3 or later software.
