The Suit For The Large Man

by Guest Author

Lean men have all the advice in the world when it comes to buying a suit. The large man however, is not directly marketed too by most suit designers. This is unfortunate as many bigger men would like to learn how to look good in a suit.

Diets are getting bigger and exercise programs are getting smaller. Suits are made for all sizes, but only advised for fit men. Be at ease my friends, there is a way for a larger man to look good in a suit and this article will tell you how.

OTR, or off the rack suits, will rarely look good on a larger man. There are many different areas to enhance and disguise, and they will not look the same on all big men. This means the larger man will probably need to get a custom made suit to fit his specifications to the letter.

Dark colors are the best for men of larger proportions. Colors such as charcoal gray, navy blue, and black give a more streamlined appearance to the larger man's not so streamlined belly.

Suits with vertical stripes are a nice companion to the larger man. Wear a pinstripe suit to create at atmosphere of length rather than width.

Wear suits of worsted wool or other thin fabrics to reduce the amount of thickness surrounding your already thick body. Heavy fabrics of flannel and plaid will make the wearer look heavier.

Always make sure that you are not going to go on a hardcore diet before purchasing a new suit. Suits can be altered and sewn in for a better fit, but eventually they will not look as good as they originally did when tailored just right.

Finally, remember not to draw attention to any part of the suit or body by the addition of loud shirts or ties. If you decide upon the dark pinstripe, the only perfect choice for a large man is a white shirt.
